Ladbrokes Community Fund

The Police Clubs of Great Britain supported by Ladbrokes Community Fund Founder and CEO – Barry Jones MBE says:

Ladbrokes Community Fund has shown support to our UK-wide programme of Citizenship, and their huge contribution will now allow us to greatly increase our programmes through sport, communities and many other settings including prisons. We are extremely grateful for this fantastic vote of confidence in the Police Community Clubs of Great Britain.

Many will not be aware that Ladbrokes never seeks acknowledgment for the contribution they make to supporting worthy causes, but we will, by noting a few of them here:

Ladbrokes Community Fund supports localised projects, particularly those which provide sport and leisure opportunities to those who otherwise might not be able to access them; or enhancing ‘life chances’ through training and employment schemes. It has supported local sports clubs in their drive to combat knife crime, conducted mock interviews for those who have little work experience, and provided the financial means for people in deprived communities to get on the employment ladder via the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

Through its related Ladbrokes Charitable Trust, it has also contributed over £6.2m to numerous organisations including The Samaritans, Breast Cancer Campaign, The Bobby Moore Fund for Research into Bowel Cancer, Child-line and the British Association of Adoption and Fostering. Other causes saw Ladbrokes fund over 10,000 Christmas dinners to elderly people through Age UK.

Their support to the Police Clubs will enable us to add to the work already done by Ladbrokes in line with nationwide Safer Neighbourhood programmes.

The main thrust of the work that we will be carrying out with the support provided by Ladbrokes Community Fund will see the delivery of our Sport and Citizenship programmes in partnership with police commanders throughout the UK. These bespoke programmes address issues around anti-social behaviour, truancy, drug and alcohol abuse, bullying, gun and knife crime and much more.
The Police Clubs are extremely grateful for the support provided by Ladbrokes Community Fund. Their support particularly around our ‘Uchooze’ programme has made a huge impact throughout the country. Addressing alcohol abuse, gang crime, knife crime and anti-social behaviour, it has already been piloted in a number of police service areas.

Chief Officers of Police are welcome to contact ‘the Clubs’ who will be pleased to discuss the merits of this programme.

There is further scope to deliver sports programmes including coaching. These will further promote the partnership whereby Ladbrokes Community Fund seeks to ‘train the trainers’.
